The reason I use Costco is that they profile their printers and publish the profiles. I have to drive over 5 miles to get my Costco prints! Īll joking aside, Costco prices are below the consumables (especially the ink) used printing at home. The scanner comes with a copier application that scans directly to the laser printer it even allows me to print duplex.īut considering I can upload images directly to COSTCO then either ship them directly to us or drive three miles and pick them up for fraction for I can print them my self you have to think about it. I have an Epson V600 scanner that I use for scanning Medium Format negatives (I have a Nikon Coolscan V for the 35mm negatives0 and for general scanning chores. The model I chose is no longer available, but these models are approximately the same (with a few new functions). Unlike ink, toner cartridges keep for a very long time. The original toner cartridge lasted about three years then I replaced it with a 'High Yield' cartridge that I purchased on sale on Amazon a few years before I needed it that cartridge is still running. I found the laser printer very reliable - no clogged print heads, no dried out ink cartridges - and much more economical than our ink jets. In June 2007 I replaced our Ink Jet printers with a monochrome Brother laser printer that was networked so my wife and I could share the printer between our computers. Several years ago, I decided that it was more economical to have Costco do all my color printing. oh and am purchasing a separate scanner for my extensive, negative, slide library that i am digitizing. it does look like the large capacity ink cartridge has 2-3 times the capacity of my old printer for slightly less money, so this is a winner for me. so the questions is any opinions on the epson expression premium all in ones? looking at either the xp 630 or the xp 950? would appreciate opinions on the 6 ink vs 5 ink systems. i do like the epson printers that allow you to print on dvd/cdrs.

so the printer will be used as for day to day work, text, scanner/copier and pics. What printing I do is small batches of 4圆, an occasional 5x7 and the rare 8x10.

Even when printing wall hanging stuff i will use Costco services as a digital proof before going to my pro lab down the road from me. and Need a replacement all in one printer that will work with el capitan Little background: I don't print all that many photo's find that Costco is far cheaper and faster than printing them myself.

In all seriousness, have made the upgrade from the winter world to the iMac environment. I guess they just make em like they use to. These papers give you comparable life to a photographic color print.Just don't understand why my epson stylus photo r300 had decided to expire on me after only 13 years of service. I prefer the added life of the dye based prints over pigment. All three of the papers I mentioned can be found for good prices on the web and have very long image permanence for a dye based system. Uou really do want to stick to your manufacturers papers unless you know what you're doing. Another advantage of Epson over Canon is a wide paper choice at a reasonable price.

Click the proper paper in the print driver and you get great results. So far I've used Epson Matte Heavyweight, Epson Colorlife, and Epson Premium Glossy. Use Epson Vivid if you want the printer to enhance the image.

Use Epson Standard Mode if you clean up the image yourself before printing. THE important setting on the printer driver is Color Mode. I manually adjust the images first till they look right on the screen. I don't use any of the auto enhancement features but instead run all of my images through Jasc Paint Shop v8. Picture quality? Once you figure it out its excellent.

Its got Epson's highest resolution engine (at the moment), six ink capacity (dye inks), and a bargain price! Frankly, if you don't need all the bells and whistles, this is the printer to get.

This review is for the Epson R200 which has the same print engine as the R300.
